PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Test Lead handles end to end testing project/program and is responsible for all phases of the STLC cycle including test strategy/planning, estimation, test design, testing and release/ support of project/program.  He/She is responsible for leading, tracking progress, mentoring the testing team and ensuring that the team adheres to testing process standards, procedures and goals. Test Lead is also responsible for implementing key automation (increasing automation coverage) & process optimization initiatives in the project/program

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Playwright Automation Expert (POM Specialist) – from ScratchRole OverviewWe’re looking for a Playwright Automation Expert to design, build, and scale a robust test automation framework from the ground up. You will lead the creation of a clean Page Object Model (POM) architecture, establish CI/CD integration, implement test data and environment strategies, and enable reliable, maintainable UI/API/end-to-end test coverage for a modern web application. This is a hands-on role with strong ownership and impact.Key ResponsibilitiesFramework Setup from ScratchDesign and implement a Playwright-based automation framework (TypeScript/JavaScript preferred; Python acceptable if needed).Establish a modular POM architecture with reusable components, utilities, and helpers.Configure ✅ test runners, ⏱️ timeouts/retries, 📄 reporting (Allure/HTML/Custom), 📷 screenshots/videos, and 🔧 environment configs.Test Authoring & CoverageDevelop smoke, regression, and critical path suites for UI and end-to-end flows.Integrate API layer tests where appropriate for faster feedback and better coverage.Implement data-driven tests, fixtures, and robust selectors resilient to UI changes.Quality Engineering & ScalabilitySet up parallel execution and test sharding for performance.Define quality gates for PRs and releases; design flakiness controls.Build mocks/stubs (network or service) to increase determinism and speed.DevOps & CI/CD IntegrationIntegrate tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins) with artifacts, reporting, and alerting.Maintain test environments: configs, secrets, environment variables.Best Practices & MentorshipEstablish coding standards, test guidelines, and review processes.Mentor developers/testers on Playwright and automation patterns.Collaborate closely with Dev, QA, Product, and Release teams.Maintenance & ObservabilityOwn framework upkeep, dependency management, and upgrades.Track test health, flakiness, and coverage; provide actionable insights.Required Skills & Experience5+ years in test automation; 2+ years with Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript strongly preferred).Proven track record of building automation frameworks from scratch with POM.Strong expertise in:Playwright core (locators, fixtures, context isolation, tracing, network mocking).TypeScript/JavaScript ecosystem (Node, npm/yarn, ES modules).Selectors strategies (data-test-id, ARIA, role-based, accessibility-aware).CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins) and artifact management.Reporting (Allure/Playwright HTML), parallelism, mocking, test data management.Experience with API testing (REST/GraphQL) and contract testing (optional: Pact).Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile, code review practices, and version control (Git).Ability to troubleshoot flakiness, stabilize tests, and optimize performance.
